PICKNICK IM FREIEN, 2000 (Outdoor picnic)
picnic blanket to borrow for public spaces
cloth, silver reflecting plastic, cart
Kunstbüro Hasenbergl, Munich

The picnic blanket is rolled up on a small cart in the gallery space. Leaflets were distributed to the people living in the area. The leaflet advertised the availability of a family-sized picnic blanket, that could be checked out at the gallery. Many people from different walks of life took advantage of this offer. With 6 m diameter the picnic blanket is big enough for about 20 people. The shining pink cloth of the towel reflects on clothes and skin. A birds eye view localizes the users position. The silver side of the picnic towel can be used to dazzle air planes or as a bronzing platform.
