Maya Bringolf and Stefan Wischnewski
01.07. - 02.08.2002
From July to August 2002 and within the framework of the KunstPraxis
series of exhibitions, two contemporary artistic positions were
once again on display on the premises of the company's doctor at
the Wittelsbacherplatz site. As it had been the case during the
first project in the series, here again the participating artists
have confronted and responded to the spatial and functional givens
at this site, being part of Siemens intramural facilities.
Maya Bringolf (Munich) clothed the hallway with bright pink Baroque
ornaments which she laid over the existing architecture like a kind
of all-over structural net. "Flumma Room" combined painterly, sculptural,
and architectural components to create a new spatial perception
and new figurative associations.
Stefan Wischnewski (Karlsruhe/Munich) staged a temporary installation
entitled "make up" which gave the physician's waiting room a new
"outfit." Bolts of tent cloth, which the artist sew on site, as
well as a mirror were the ingredients which he used in this cosmetic
metamorphosis of the space. An "MTSV club chair," sewn together
from athletic bags, was presented as an additional opus by the same
artist. The tent, the mirror, and the club chair gave a new aesthetic
and a new function to the waiting room. |
